Autumn is here and what a Fall it has been so far. The colours of the leaves have been amazing this year. I mean, just take a look at the colours of the leaves around the cabin! Although the mushroom foraging has not been amazing so far, I've enjoyed foraging for autumn oysterlings, resinous polypore, gem studded polypore and witches' butter. I can only hope the mushroom foraging next year will be better. I was on a high after foraging for so many types of berries this Summer. I have to get on making my Winter teas now. The shower house is 99% finished which is a relief. What projects should I get up to next year??!

It's hard to believe that it is the beginning of December. Early Winter here has been most unusual. Temperatures have been above zero celsius for the most part. Occasionally, flurries fly in the air. I'm chomping at the bit to enjoy some of my favorite Winter activities like snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Things are icing up a bit only to be unthawed by unseasonably warm temperatures and rain. This year has been the rainiest on record around these parts. Climate change anyone? I can't help but wonder how this is affecting local wildlife. I'm willing to bet that bears are still getting up and foraging around the den. Interestingly, the birds have been slow to get to the feeders as there is a lot of food for them in the bush. A warm and wet Summer meant a lot of berries and seeds for them this year. What's weather like near you?
